General Description:
The Texas General Land Office primarily serves the schoolchildren, veterans, and the environment of Texas. The agency does so by preserving our history, maximizing state revenue through innovative administration, and through the prudent stewardship of state lands and natural resources. This position is with our Contract Management Program Area. Performs highly complex (senior-level) contract technical assistance and review work. Work involves preparing and reviewing contract material, verifying billings for fiscal accuracy and completeness, and preparing reports on contract development and management. May train others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Veterans, Reservist or Guardsman with an MOS or additional duties that fall in the fields of Army - 51C - Acquisition, Logistics and Technology (AL&T) Contracting NCO; Navy - LS - Logistics Specialist; Coast Guard - 420 - Storekeeper; Marines - 3044 - Operational Contract Support Specialist; Air Force - 6C0X1 - Contracting; or other related fields pertaining to the minimum experience requirement may meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Essential Job Elements:
Maintains and reviews contract file information and reviews and/or verifies contract data included in contract management database Reviews reports of statistical information and ensures that data accurately reflects the status of the contract activity. Provides assistance to contract agency staff on eligibility, policy, documentation, and billing procedures. Provides technical assistance in the development and preparation of contracts and amendments. Prepares reports to contract agencies reflecting the findings of eligibility reviews.

Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and experience in contract review or procurement.

Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures, and of contract management policies and procedures. Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret technical information; to make arithmetical computations and tabulations; to identify problems and plan corrective actions; to prepare and submit reports; to derive information from observations and interviews; to understand and follow instructions; to gather specific data from documentation systems; to communicate effectively; and to provide guidance to others.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires the employee to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (moving around the work-site) is routinely required to carry out some duties. This position requires extensive computer, telephone and client/customer contact and communication. It requires the ability to move and position oneself as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Ability to read printed materials and computer screens. The individual must be able to move and transport records, documents, boxes, and all related information and materials, weighing up to 20 pounds when required. The individual must be able to remain stationary for long periods of time when commuting to and from assigned destination and when traveling on state business including fieldwork and training assignments.
